Cranbrook Rugby Club - Under 8

Welcome to Cranbrook Rugby Club - Under 8s (Year 3)

The aim of CRFC’s Mini rugby is to foster and develop young players (girls & boys) of all abilities in the game of rugby in a safe, non-competitive, enjoyable environment through activities which ensure progressive skill development. Using the foundation of the RFU’s Age Grade Rugby and a range of progressive development tools. We ensure all of our coaches are committed to developing young athletes into compassionate and respectful individuals and team members.

We will ensure each player demonstrates the highest standards of RFU’s T.R.E.D.S (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline, Sportsmanship) at all times on and off the pitch and external to the club grounds.

Unders 8s play a non contact format called Tag Rugby, where tackles are executed by removing velcro tags attached to player's belts.

Come give us a TRY.

U8s (Year 3) Training & Festivals

Training is held on Sundays from early September to the end of April. Sessions start promptly at 9.45 with registration from 9.30 and finish no later than 11.15.

Home training typically starts with a warm up and an 'activate' session then rugby inspired games and skills training followed by matches.

Sometimes we have joint training at home and away; this is a brilliant way to try something new and enjoy learning different skills and it often concludes with matches which the kids really enjoy.

We also participate in Mini Festivals; this is a great opportunity to be competitive in a fun enviroment and represent the club!

Overall it's all about the kids having fun, being active and learning the values of rugby (TREDS).

New players are always very welcome so please do get in touch if you would like your child to come and have a few trial sessions. Please contact Kristina our Admin guru in the first instance. Contact details are below.

It's pretty rare, but if the weather requires us to cancel a training session/event during the season our method of communication will be via email and our WhatsApp Group. Please ensure that you provide your details to be included.

We also use a Stack App to set out the programme of training and events for the season; we ask that parents/guardians RSVP to each training session so we can effectively plan!

All players are required to become club members (this is through through family membership for U8's) this affilites them to the club and enables them to particpate and be insured to play.

We are always looking for volunteers to help out at training sessions so be prepared to get active! No rugby or coaching experience required.
