The Under 8 season is a time for us to consolidate the rudiments of Tag Rugby learnt in the junior age group and take these a stage further.  We shall continue to work on the basics of rugby and slowly build in some more advanced drills and skills as we see the children at at a stage to progress.  This is the final year of Tag Rugby and therefore we shall be looking to develop the player's rugby abilities in preparation for their first year of contact rugby in the following season.  One or 2 new rules are introduced such as a maximum of 7 tag tackles per team before the attacking side hands possession to the opposition.  If you would like to brush up on the rules, or look at them for the first time, they can be found here.

The emphasis throughout is for the boys and girls to enjoy their rugby while at the same time learning the basic skills and gaining an aptitude for the game. There is a wealth of information to help you enjoy your time at Cranbrook RFC whether you are a member or just visiting. Please take the time to view the links there and gain a better understanding of those laws that relate to this age group in particular. Training sessions and games at home will be at the club almost every Sunday morning from 10.00-12.00 (please check fixtures below / latest news / emails).

Essential Admin


1. Please ensure you register as club members and get subs paid as soon as possible. From now, there will be a 'No Pay, No Play' policy invoked 

Family Membership

2. All players need to be registered with the RFU.

ALL players needs to register with The RFU. If your child is not The RFU register he or she are not available to play in any Festivals/Competitive matches or Tournaments. Nor will they be insured by The RFU.
 
3. If any parents would like to help in a coaching capacity and you would like details of coaching or refereeing courses taking place over the summer/autumn, they can be found at the link below. Do please get in contact with Marcus Nick or Stuart if you would like the opportunity to attend a course and take a part in the coaching for the 2011/12 season.

4.  Structured Development Days.

As our coaches have been building up their qualifications, the Kent RFU has deemed it no longer mandatory to hold SDDs.  On our basic training days, we shall be looking to put a greater number of fixtures in the diary in order that the children get more match time and get to meet other clubs that we may not see so much of now that the SDDs are not taking place.

 5.  Weekly Email.

If you are not receiving the weekly email, please contact Marcus in order to get put on the distribution.  Amongst the poetic prose, there is occasionally some interesting information which you will be otherwise missing out on.
