Cranbrook vs Footscray - 12th October 2013

Updated by: Admin - 27/10/2013

The score suggests a one sided game and it was. Footscray, to their credit, did not give up, and were rewarded with a pushover try at literally the last play of the game.

With the half time score at 37 – 0 in Cranbrook’s favour the outcome was never in doubt. A neck injury to the visiting fullback almost on half time caused the game to be switched to a second pitch while an ambulance was summoned. This, combined with a wholesale substitution of home players caused a loss of Cranbrook’s momentum. Cranes however kept the scoreboard ticking over and the final score of 63 – 7 was a fair reflection of the game.

With nine home tries it is difficult select outstanding players, there were simply too many. Captain Alex Cornwallis was his usual hugely active self and Callum Hall had an enormous game from wing forward but overall Cranes produced an impressive team effort. The neck injury to Footscray’s fullback was not serious and his travel to hospital was precautionary.
